What do moms want for mother’s day?

Four women smiling

Mother’s day is days away friends. Unlike past years, this one is going to be quite different for many moms.

I’m not sure what would make your mother’s day great, but one of my favorite gifts is the gift of time.  Self indulgent, personal me time.

If would often come in the form of an overnight stay at a nearby cabin or lakefront retreat.

My packed essentials would include my favorite coffee, wine, snacks, journal, bible, candles and playlist and I’d always have an indulgent meal topped off with wine and dessert.

I would schedule this gift of time near the change of the season (summer to fall or winter to spring) and I’d use it to recalibrate and celebrate the hardworking woman that I am.

The attentive wife and good mom that I work hard to be.

Why do this?  First of all it’s a great gift for an introvert like me and secondly, we can’t give our family 100% , if we’re functioning on 20%

The idea is to use the time in a way that energizes my spirit and refuels me.

I know that many of us have recently had time to hit the reset button with our current worldwide pandemic.

But this is quite different.

Was everyone home? Did you have to fill in for teacher duty, spend more time in the kitchen, or do a ton more laundry these past several weeks?

Are you a healthcare or essential employee who didn’t have the luxury of taking time off?

I took the liberty of asking a few friends to help me answer the question, “What do moms want for mother’s day this year”?

I want to share what they said, with the hope that you are inspired and have an awesome Mother’s day.

Top 10 gifts moms want this year

Given our recent shelter-in-place orders It’s no surprise that we have the desire to spend quality time with our family and friends who are distant. It’s also no surprise that we want to do things that make us feel better (at home spa kits) or make our home look great (flowers for the garden).

What I also heard loud and clear was the need for total relaxation and the gift of being catered to.

Can someone else just take care of all details for the day please? Yup this resonated loudly and consistently.

I hope the lists below garner inspiration and do share them with your loved ones
