It’s so fun to see all the ways clients differ from each other, but it’s even funnier when there are certain trends among clients. For example, this Cincy townhome refresh was just one of our 2022 projects that involved the color orange! Crazy, right? It was definitely a theme for this year, and I loved having the chance to play with the color scheme a little more — and in a whole new way. In this case, the client’s fave color is orange and she loves ballroom dancing as a hobby. So we made an effort to add orange as well as key pieces of art to reflect her interests and make her home a place she could enjoy in every way.
In addition to her unique color preferences, this client had also downsized quite a bit and was looking for a way to enhance her townhome with color, texture, and a vibrant vibe that matched her outgoing personality. She already had two beautiful rugs and was happy with her furnishings; but “the seasonings” to create the casual cozy home she was seeking and bring it together in a cohesive way were missing.
We focused on multiple rooms in this refresh and introduced a lot of new elements that made every space pop with personality.

Living Room Updates
As is expected, we were aiming for a warm and inviting vibe for the living room. To do so, we added two different wall finishes to the adjacent dining room and living room walls. A lovely textured grasscloth wallpaper adorned the dining room, and we added a coat of paint for the living room area. This helped to create two clearly defined spaces between the two rooms.
Sherwin-Williams’ Spicy Hue was the star of the show for the living room along with bold art choices from Leftbank Art. We then created custom ceiling-to-floor draperies in a beautiful neutral and light fabric for added drama and elegance. The finishing touches in the living room were the new side table lamps in glamorous clear glass, and some cultural elements that complemented the client’s personality and style.
We updated lighting in the dining room with a chandelier, in the living room with a ceiling fan, and in the kitchen by adding these super fun, but still elegant, pendants.
Kitchen
In the kitchen, we updated the cabinetry hardware and, of course, added those pendant lights. The goal here was to simply update it to help keep the cohesive flow from the new living room to the existing kitchen, so nothing major was needed, just some simple changes (that always make a big difference).
Powder Room
I told we touched almost every room in this house. We even did the powder room! We added a bold wallpaper in a geometric pattern from Brewster Home Fashions. This easy addition added a dynamic to the small room.
Bedroom
The client already had a blue accent wall, so we used that as inspiration, and it set the tone for the rest of the design direction. We were going with clutter-free, which made the chic, modern, dressers and nightstands one of our favorite purchases. Not only are they cute and unique with a geometric, textured design on the facade, but they gave the client plenty of fantastic storage space. Finally, we updated the bedding and throw pillows to increase the comfy vibes, and added a end-of-bed bench along with nightstand lamps. All the colors came together as we used soft teals, lighter wood stain colors, and lots of neutrals to harmonize with the curtains and bold blue.
This Cincy townhome refresh was truly a collaborative refresh project as the client already gave us a good foundation with which to start…We just brought it home!
