While you’re deep cleaning your house this spring (more power to you if you actually do this!) you might notice that your favorite rooms need a different kind of TLC: a breath of fresh air in the form of a few new items that completely refresh the space. Whether you’re just updating the art, getting rid of the old table nobody uses, or simply adding something new, there are a few ways to refresh your home without breaking the bank.
Adopt A New Trend
Don’t go too crazy with it, but check out some of the top 2022 trends and pick one to adopt on a small scale. A little goes a long way, so you can easily make your home a biophilic home with a few viny plants or indoor trees. And it’s not too much to upgrade your kitchen with metallic accents, or replace your boring dining room light with a whimsical centerpiece. These small changes can completely revamp your room without requiring a full re-do.
Donate Old Furniture
Don’t throw it out! I’ve made it no secret that I love working with New Life Furniture Bank here in Ohio, but no matter where you live there is bound to be a great organization you can donate your gently loved furniture to. If your space feels crowded, if you have things you don’t use anymore, or if you’re simply upgrading, donate the used furniture to New Life Furniture Bank or a local charity that will make sure it finds another life with someone who needs it.
Update Your Curtain Game
Sometimes, it’s as simple as new curtains. Honestly, curtains can add so much character and style while serving a real purpose in a room – like light control, privacy, lowering heating bills, and adding height to a room. All of this makes them one of our favorite parts of a room! I offer window treatment services that can completely transform your windows and give any room a new look with minimal effort. Add Some Unique Art
Blank walls make for a great minimalistic look, but too many empty spaces can become monotonous, boring, and cold. Peruse Etsy or Minted to find unique, beautiful art that suits any style and taste to add to your walls – including wallpaper!
Pay Attention to the Fifth Wall
The ceiling is so underrated as a space to experiment and show off and create a whole new dynamic in a room. Paint or wallpaper the ceiling to add depth and color, and maybe a little intrigue to your living room, dining room, or bedroom.
Now that the place is clean, old furniture gone, and your new items are integrated into your space, pop the cork and celebrate your amazing effort! I love trying new wines with Vinebox and it’s the perfect treat after a long day of making your house a home.
